Johnny Cecotto is a legendary name for sure in motorsports. Cecotto became 2 times world champion in motorcycle racing (350cc in 1975 and 750cc in 1978) in the seventies and switched to motorsport in 1981. Johnny Cecotto raced Formula 2 (vice-champion 1982) and Formula 1 until an accident ended his F-1 career and he switched to touringcars. Cecotto has raced all over the world in World-, European-, German- (DTM, STW, V8STAR) and Italian and British touring car championships and has won several championship titles. The name of Johnny Cecotto is known in motorsports for more than 30 years! His son Johnny Cecotto junior has taken the steering wheel in his hands to step in his fathers legendary footsteps. He started in karts in Italy when he was 12 years old and finished already 4th in his first year in junior class of Veneto. He also won the Triveneto championship in 2003. In 2004 he competed the Italian Open Masters in karts. In 2005 he stepped in Formula racing and competed the Formula BMW ADAC championship as a Rookie. In the Italian Formula Renault 1.6 and 2.0 he made his first successes in 2005. In 2006 Johnny Cecotto jr. raced in Formula Renault 2.0 and the Formula 3 series where he already made his marks in just the few races he did. He already has some small sponsors which you see below. For the 2007 season Johnny will race with the Ombra Racing Team in the new International Formula Masters series which companion the WTCC series during the European races.
